Blessed Are The Meek

Jesus cleansing the Temple

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

David was the first mortal to make this promise, as he gave it to ancient Israel (Ps. 37:11). Not many virtues have such intrinsic worth as meekness, for the meek are the god-fearing and the righteous.

The meek are the ones who willingly conform to the gospel standards, transforming their own wills to become identical to the will of the Lord.

The meek are not fearful, spiritless, or timid. Rather, they are the most forceful and dynamic personalities who ever lived! -- He who drove the money changers from the temple, and with violence threw down their merchandising equipment (Matthew 21:12-13) said of Himself, "I am meek and lowly in heart." (Matthew 11:29).

Meekness is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23). Surely, the grace of the Lord is sufficient for the meek in this life, and in eternity they shall have an inheritance in the heavenly kingdom;

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. (Ps. 149:4).

When the earth is sanctified, cleansed from all unrighteousness, and prepared for celestial glory, then the meek shall claim their promised inheritance.
