As far as man is concerned, Christ
is the center of all things. But for the Father and the Son himself, He cannot be
the center in the same way as he is for man. Christ was actually born as a son to God in
Heaven, making him the Firstborn of the Father.
29 For whom he (God) did foreknow, he (God) also did
predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)
Jesus is the Firstborn of the Father. But on earth he is not the Firstborn,
here he is the Only Begotten Son! Calling him the Firstborn implies that there
is a second born, a third born, etc.
But on earth God had no more children! But before he came to earth
Jesus lived with God. He was born as a spirit son to God there, before any
other spirit children of God were born.
By obedience and devotion to the truth he
attained the highest intelligence which made him a God, the Lord Omnipotent,
while yet in his pre-mortal state.
Being omnipotent, he became creator of
this earth and of worlds without number, under the direction of Father.
He was then chosen to work out the
infinite and eternal atonement, to come to this particular earth as the literal
Son of the Father, and to put the whole plan of redemption salvation, and
exaltation in operation.
In
all ages the gospel, all saving truths, and every edifying principle have been
revealed through him.
He is the Eternal Jehovah, the promised Messiah,
the Redeemer and Savior, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. By him immortality
and eternal life become realities, and through his grace and goodness salvation
is possible for all who will believe and obey.
He was born into this world as the
Son of Mary (inheriting from her the power of mortality) and as the Son of God
(inheriting from him the powers of immortality).
He did not receive the fullness all
at once,
but went from grace to grace until, in the final triumph of the resurrection,
he gained the fullness of all things; and all power was given unto him both in
heaven and on earth.
He has all truth, all power, all
knowledge;
he comprehends all things, is infinite in all his attributes and powers; and he
has given a law unto all things.
He will come again, in power, dominion,
and glory to reign with righteous people on earth for a thousand years.
Thereafter he shall reign forever and ever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
