Jesus Explained Eternal Life

Jesus Explained Eternal Life

And this is eternal life that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John 17:3)

To have eternal life appears to be synonymous to knowing the Father and the Son. Because of the likeness between the Father and the Son, knowing one equals knowing the other, and seeing one equals seeing the other(John 14:7). The Father sent his Son as the means through which mortals could get to know him.

Jesus Explained Eternal Life

How is it possible to know Jesus at all, seeing that he is not living among us anymore? Six steps would be helpful for us to achieve this:

  1. We must learn the teachings of Jesus, as they are recorded in the Holy Scriptures.
  2. We must study the fabric of Jesus, the man. What was he like? What did he do? Did he live as he preached? How did he handle adversity? What was he like when he was tired? How did he intermingle with others? Did he honor his Father and mother?
  3. We must try to follow the teachings of Jesus and the example of his life. Making water into wine would be a great party trick, but for us it is more important to love and to serve. Keeping the commandments, honoring our promises, being true, help with the dishes, visit a someone in prison, and taking a homeless person to McDonalds' will go a long way!
  4. When we strive to obey the commandments of God, our hearts will mourn our transgressions against these commandments. We must repent in humility, and let Christ take this burden from us, replacing mourning with rejoicing!
  5. We must reverently communicate with the Father, in the name of Jesus. It is in communion with Deity that the printed words of a book can become personal knowledge of the Son of Man, and our own service and repentance can be transformed into a shining relationship with the man from Galilee, which is known as eternal life.
  6. You must search, prayerfully, in all honesty, to find a people who share your beliefs in that which you learn on this web-site, and which the Spirit re-enforces on your mind. We live in a cold, non-caring world, and on our own, it is nigh unto impossible to make it.

Jesus Explained Eternal Life

To know Jesus is to be embraced by his love. It will surround you inasmuch as you chose to live a Christ-centered life.

Below are some passages of scripture to ponder at this time. Do so prayerfully. Ask the Lord what he wants you to see as you reed them. Then, please, feel free to search other links on Jesus Explained, and whenever you have any questions, I will be there for you to answer them for you.

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (John 2:4)

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. (Matthew 10:39)

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14-15)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest". (Matthew 11:28)
