Jesus - I am
Jesus – I am – Jehovah! With just a few words Jesus uncovered his
divine past. We know that his Father was God and his mother was Mary. But did
it all start at birth for Jesus? Or did he have an existence before he was born
to Mary in Bethlehem?
Let us see what Jesus said about that himself:
Then said the Jews
unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself,
and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
(John 8:58-59)
The Jews told Jesus
that he was too young to have known Abraham, let alone God! Jesus then shocked
them, by saying that before Abraham was he, Jesus
- I Am. The ‘I am’ was to
signify the eternal and everlasting nature of Jehovah, and that he had life and
existence in himself. The Jews saw this as the worst possible blasphemy, that Jesus claimed to be
Jehovah! And it would have been... if it in deed didn’t happen to be the truth!
They just had to kill him!
By this announcement
made by Jesus, we come to understand that Jesus is the very God of the Old
Testament. Jesus explained that he is the Jehovah of the creation. He is the
Jehovah that gave the commandments. He Is the Jehovah that revealed himself to
all the holy prophets. He is the Jehovah that does everything that his Father
commands him to do. He declared it openly; Jesus – I am!
The complete Circle. Look at the beauty of
this:
- He created a world for man to
live upon.
- He created man to live upon
it.
- He gave unto man the
commandments to lead them right.
- He is the righteous judge who
pronounces a just sentence upon the children of men, and makes sure that a
fitting punishment is inflicted upon the sinners.
- He is also the savior,
pleading with the sinner to repent, so that he doesn’t have to punish us.
- And he even takes upon him
every pain of this world, so that we can be delivered from suffering.
- He is the advocate with the
Father, pleading our case before him.
- On top of it all, the real
Jesus wants us to co-inherit everything that he has been given by the
Father, just as if we were never guilty at all. Such a generosity has
never been known.
The Anointed One. The Master is often
referred to as Christ, or the Messiah. These words both mean the Anointed One.
Anointed by whom? Anointed to what?
The only one who can anoint someone of such high standing to a high
and holy calling, is someone of a yet higher standing; and this leaves only
one; the anointer could have been no other than the Father of Jesus – I am.
Kings are anointed. It
would make perfect sense if Christ was anointed King of Kings. Priests are
anointed. It would make equal sense if he was anointed Chief High Priest. And
it would not be surprising if there were even greater, holier and more unspeakable
callings to which Jesus – I am, was
anointed by his loving and tender Father.
We must look for the
real Jesus, to know him, in order to find eternal life. Not the distorted and perverted
Jesus of our times, but the Jesus whom his mother knew and loved, the Messiah
whom the Apostles testified of, and the Son in whom his Father was well
pleased. And when it is hard for you to see Jesus in clearly, I will make sure
that you will be able to see Jesus –I am,
clearly on this site.
Return from 'Jesus - I am' to Home.
