Jesus Empty Tomb
How could this become Jesus empty tomb?
It was
dead quiet and pitch dark. A mixed smell of flowers, oils and spices was
filling the air of the small carved out grotto.
There was
the unmistakable merciless, almost drilling sound of the flies buzzing around
him. It was too dark to see, but they might have already filled his nostrils,
mouth and eyes with their eggs. His
seeping, decaying flesh gave out a sweet odor of meat.
Suddenly
the small room began to fill with light until it appeared to be ablaze. Within
the light one might have detected a personage, if one could have been able to
abide the glory of the light and the moment!
At the
very presence of this glorious personage – gone were the flies; gone were the
eggs and the larvae! Nothing unclean could endure the presence of that holy
man, so the seepage were dried up, the shroud and the linen wraps were become
as new!
“Jesus
of Nazareth,
Son of God, Arise!”
As soon
as the words were spoken the glorious man was gone, and so was the light that
had set the grotto ablaze. It was absolutely charcoal again. For
just a short moment…
A long
gasping for air broke the silence, and after that, the sounds of calm
breathing. The small sounds that followed were the sounds of a man getting out
of linen wraps, putting on his beautiful garments.
And then,
without warning, the grotto exploded with the same light as before, and within
that light stood the resurrected Jesus. And now it was clear to see that it was
he who had been there just minutes before, as a spirit, preparing for the
resurrection of his own body.
Moments
later that place would go down in history as Jesus empty tomb.
Of
course, this story is made up, but it could very well be true. But it was made
up for a reason! It was made up to explain that the ‘dead Jesus’ was very much
alive, all the time, as his spirit continued to act while his body was dead. It
was made to show that Jesus had power to take up his own life. It was made to
know that Jesus was really dead! It
was written to show that the living Christ has a tangible body, which he
collected from the tomb. It was written as a testimony that Jesus lives, and
that the grotto, Jesus empty tomb, was the second humble place to see the Son
of God come to life!
