Jesus Explained As He Really Was

False Images of Jesus. It's about time that we see Jesus explained, particularly in the arts, as he really was. He was not a flimsy, androgynous door-mat, driven by the will of his surroundings, or by chance. And he was certainly not a man driven by hormones to defile his body in any way, as it has become so popular to claim by photographers, painters, film-makers, composers etc. On the Day of Judgment these fools cannot hide behind any paragraphs of freedom of expression, and except they truly repent they will beg the rocks to fall upon them to hide them from the face of the Savior.

The Body of Jesus. Jesus was a carpenter by trade, and as such, he would have to have been a real man with strong limbs and callused hands. He must have been accustomed to heavy lifting and other hard work. We can be quite sure that the real Jesus did not have the limbs of a seven-year-old, like he is often portrayed in old religeous paintings. Further, in the Bible we find Jesus explained as a son of God and a son of the tribe of Judah. Since we do not know with perfect knowledge what God the Father looks like, we cannot know if Jesus is predominantly Jewish in looks, or if he has taken other features from his father. This gives some freedom to the artist to have Jesus explained in the arts.

The Mind of Jesus. Jesus was the most intelligent and powerful man ever to walk the earth. Look at what Jesus accomplished, and you will see a leader second to none;

  • He preached his "new" gospel.
  • He won thousands of followers in a couple of years.
  • He organized a new Church.
  • He called leaders for this Church.
  • He effectively trained this leadership.
  • He made sure that his teachings would have a geographical spread.

  • He made sure his teachings would be continued as long as the world would stand.
  • He taught like no one ever taught before or after him.

This intelligence and power of accomplishment could not be hid from the face of Jesus. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid, Jesus taught, and the power of Jesus could not be hid in his face.

The Spirit of Jesus. Jesus was a man who spoke with God, face to face, and in whom God was well pleased. He was a man who made plans for the salvation of the entire human race.

We want to see Jesus portrayed as the powerful man he was. We want to see Jesus explained in the arts with the inner glow and outer confidence that must result from years of communicating with The Highest.

A Jesus explained like a man with chronic depression and the countenance of a loser does not accurately reflect a man who drew crowds in the thousands. The artists must think realistically before painting the man who changed the world for ever. His teachings are the teachings of a brilliant man, and this would have reflected in his face and eyes. Though not beautiful, his mature face would show peace, love and determination.

When Jesus walked up to men who did not know him, looked at them and said: “Come, Follow me”, they followed. Why? Because he was filled with power, and there was nothing in his appearance that contradicted that power.
