Second Coming of Jesus

The second coming of Jesus does not consist of one
single event of ‘coming’! We do know of a few defined, different events of ‘coming’ that will constitute
his second coming which will be shown below, but there is nothing that says
that those events will be the only events of this long awaited time.
9 And when he had
spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received
him out of their sight.
10 And while they
looked stedfastly toward
heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up
from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into
heaven. (Acts 1:9-11)
In one of Jesus comings he will remain long enough for
people to gather.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
(Matthew 24:28)
It is obvious that
when his coming is like ‘the lightning from the east to the west’, there will
be no way that people will be able to gather before the event is over. The coming
to the Mount of Olives is clearly an event for the Jews in Jerusalem.
When Jesus comes to his temple; that
is clearly for those who are at the temple at that time.
But the particular
part of the second coming of Jesus - mentioned in Matthew 24:28 - gives time
for eagles to gather. But we do well to remember that eagles have a very sharp
eye-sight, flying very high to keep their eyes open to find the food that they
desire. There are innumerous other birds and animals who are not keeping watch,
and who would not be interested in the kind of nutrition that our Carcass has
brought us. Therefore, the eagles from all over the world will have time to
gather, but none else. This also
means that this coming will be in silence, in secret. The coming in glory is
yet to happen!
Jesus will come to his Temple
(Malachi 3:1)! Every time in Holy Scripture when it
is written “Mountain of the Lord”, “Mount
Zion”,
and “Exceedingly High Mountain” etc., these are euphemisms of Temples,
places where God spoke to the Prophet!
1 AND I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the
mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty
[and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
(Revelations 14:1)
“Mount
Zion” (Hebrew: Har Tzion)
is a hill just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The term "Zion" became a synecdoche referring to the
entire city of Jerusalem
and the Land of Israel.
There is reason to believe that in Biblical times the name Mount Zion referred to the area of what
today is called by Jews the Temple Mount.”
Since “Mount
Zion”
is not only an actual place, but also a euphemism for “temple”, we can not be
absolutely certain that this event will actually take place in Jerusalem.
It can be in any place where there is a temple of the Lord erect, and where
there is a great number of the seed of Abraham present.
1 BEHOLD, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom
ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the
covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD
of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)
Jesus will set foot on the Mount of Olives and save the Jews. This shall be the day
when the Jews shall ask:” What are those wounds in your hands and in your
feet?” That is day when they shall hear:” I was wounded in the house of my
friends”. That will be the day when the Jews shall wait no more for their
Messiah. That will be the day when the Jews will repent, and for the first time
in world history truly become his covenant people.
1 BEHOLD, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil
shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather
all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the
houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into
captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the
LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of
battle.
4 And his feet shall
stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the
east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east
and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the
mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
(Zechariah 14:1-4)
The Terrible Day of His coming. There will be a day of the second coming of Jesus that will be
terrible for the wicked. How could the righteous rejoice at the suffering,
anguish and death of those of our friends and families who chose to walk paths
of unrighteousness? Many of these people we will love! There is no way that God
will rejoice or triumphantly shout for joy as a great portion of his beloved
children receives their just rewards. Certainly, the triumphant second coming
of Jesus in glory is another event altogether, when the saints have mourned,
when they have dried their tears, and when they don’t need to have mixed feelings
about going out to meet their God and King.
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and
who shall be able to stand? (Revelations 6:17)
2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and
who shall stand when he appeareth?
for he is like a refiner's
fire, and like fullers' soap: (Malachi 3:2)
1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea,
and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn
them up, saith the LORD
of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. (Malachi 4:1)
The Great Day of His Coming. In one way of looking at
it the great and terrible day is one and the same day; and that is when you
consider that One Day of the existence of the earth is one thousand years. So,
when the seventh seal is opened, the seventh day of the earth’s existence since
the fall of Adam takes its beginning, and it will last for one thousand years.
This day (lasting one thousand years) is the Great and Terrible day of the
Lord. For the righteous it is the Great Day of the Lord. At the beginning of
this millennial era there will be a terrible day of the Second coming of Jesus,
when all the wicked will ask the rocks to fall upon them, because they cannot
endure his presence, due to their own filthy state. On another day, also at the
beginning of the millennial era, there will be the Great Day of the second
coming of Jesus. It will be the day when the good an honorable people of the
earth will be called out to meet Him to receive their just reward. This is His
Coming in Glory! This is when every righteous man, woman and child since the
creation of the world will appear in the clouds and upon the hills, shouting
praises to out Lord and King, singing the Song of Redeeming Love like it has
never been sung before!
Jesus will appear in the west. Exactly what this means is unclear.
Did Jesus mean that he would descend from the east of Jerusalem, to finally appear in Jerusalem?
Or did he have a more global meaning? What is important here is that it is
clearly not any of the other ‘comings’, which shows the point that the coming
is manifold. This might be his coming in glory…
For as the lightning
cometh out of the east, and shineth
even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew
24:27)
The Second Coming of Jesus is the greatest event since the
resurrection. Such an event aught to be announced and declared, just as was the
firs coming of our Lord and Savior. In fact, it would make sense if Jesus
himself were to appear to a Prophet before such an enormous event. And this becomes more likely considering what
He said through one of his former Prophets - Amos;
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
(Amos 3:7)
And surely, the second coming of Jesus could not be considered “nothing”.
During the dark ages, it
is clear that no authorized ministers of God were roaming the earth, let alone
a Prophet. This was foretold by the Apostle Paul;
1 NOW we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our
gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by
letter as from us, as that the day of
Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there
come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition; (2 Thes 2:1-3)
3 For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears
from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Malachi prophesied that
God would call a Prophet to prepare for the Second Coming of
Jesus. This would be one of the signs of the
times which we could watch out for. So, when we see a prophet called, one who
erects a temple unto the Lord, and who, according to the words of Amos, reveals
how we can prepare for the second coming of Jesus, then we would know that the
time is at hand, yes, drawing nigh.
1 BEHOLD,
I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and
the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger
of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD
of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)
