What is The Holy Spirit?

The Dove

What is The Holy Spirit? In fact, we cannot be certain at all times, unless we are guided by – the Holy Spirit! – Since it can mean five different things!

What is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Ghost can only refer to the third person in the Godhead. The Holy Spirit usually also refer to the third person in the Godhead, but not always! But the House of God is a House of Order! Every time the ‘Holy Ghost’ is mentioned in the Scriptures, it is perfectly well understood who is intended! But if we ask ourselves; what is the Holy Spirit referring to this time; without coming to any conclusion, because it is not obvious from the context how to understand the term “the Holy Spirit”, then it can only be understood by the power of the Holy Spirit. But before we bother Deity, it’s great to do the homework first; the answer to the question ‘what is the Holy Spirit? Is five-fold;

The Holy Spirit can refer to;

  1. The Holy Ghost.
  2. Jesus Christ’s as the pre-mortal God.
  3. The spiritual existence of the risen Lord (Even though Jesus has a tangible body he is Spirit since forever).
  4. The Light of Christ which is the governing force that rules the universe.
  5. The spiritual existence of the Father, even though he also has a tangible body, just like his son. (“God is Spirit, and should be worshiped in spirit and truth”).

Most of the times when the Holy Spirit appears as a term in the Scriptures it refer to the Holy Ghost. But why does the Lord use two terms that usually are interchangeable, but all of a sudden it means something else? Well, When God wants us to be absolutely sure, he will have the prophets use the term “the Holy Ghost”. When he wants to teach us something today, that he wants us to understand some day when we are spiritually mature to receive it, then he will cause the writers, (or translators!) to use the term “the Holy Spirit”.

Since parables and the term “The Holy Spirit” is to be understood by those who have the gift of the Holy Ghost, it would probably be silly of me to hand out the key to any- and everybody on a simple website. Suffice it to say that you know the five different meanings it could have.

The Gift of the Holy Ghost is conferred upon man by the laying on of hands by those having the authority from God to do so. There is no other way to obtain the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, so seek diligently after those men who have that authority. Ask and ye shall receive, Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
