Where was Jesus Christ Born?

Nativity outside

Where was Jesus Christ born? He was called Jesus of Nazareth, so where was Jesus Christ born? In Bethlehem, of course!
It is a historical fact that at the opening of that which has thereafter come to be recognized as the 'Christian period', the Man Jesus, also known as the Christ, was born in Bethlehem of Judea. The main data as to His birth, mortal existence, and death are so well proven so as to become practically indisputable; they are evidence of record, and are established as fundamentally authentic by the civilized world as a whole.
Of course, there are differences of interpretation based on supposed discrepancies in the records of what went before as to circumstantial details; but such differences are of strictly minor significance, since not any of them individually, nor all taken collectively, cast a shadow of rational doubt over the historicity of the mortal existence of the man recognized in literature as Jesus of Nazareth.

Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth of Galilee. They had no interest in moving to Bethlehem, or even going there on vacation, but there was this Emperor, Augustus, who had this idea that he wanted to know how many subjects he had. By knowing this he knew how much tax he could require from each part of his empire. So, in order to comply with this sensus, Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem, since Joseph was a descendant of King David; and Bethlehem, which was also known as 'the city of David', was the place where all of David’s offspring were to be counted. Joseph and Mary were just going to be there for a short while, and as quickly as possible whisk back to Nazareth to have the baby. So, where was Jesus Christ born, do you think?

Most likely, Joseph and Mary planned to be back in Nazareth for the birth. If not, it would make sense if they would have gone sooner, to make sure to have a place to stay. But clearly, they had missed one passage of scripture in their religious education (or perhaps not);

1 NOW gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge

of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

2 But thou, Bethlehem, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. (Micah 5:1-2)

Joseph and Mary planned one thing; God said something different: Where was Jesus Christ born, do you think?

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. But that was never the place where he was intended to be born by his earthly guardians. The Bible is unclear whether he stayed in Bethlehem long after he was presented in the temple, or whether they moved back to Nazareth. It doesn’t really matter, for not much time has gone before a wicked king forces them to move to Egypt.
